Home at Last! Women's Basketball Host South Dakota State on Friday

Omaha, Neb. -- Playing in the friendly confines of D.J. Sokol for just the third time this season and the first since Nov. 21, the Creighton women's basketball team hosts South Dakota State on Friday, Dec. 15 at 4:00 pm.

The Bluejays hold a 6-3 series edge on the Jackrabbits, but South Dakota State has won the last two and three of the last four in the series.

Scouting South Dakota State (8-2)
After a very successful start to its season, the Jackrabbits wrap up non-conference play with three of four road game at Creighton, Drake and Florida Gulf Coast.
SDSU is 1-1 on the road thus far, dropping a contest at Green Bay (Nov. 18) and defeating George Washington in overtime (Nov. 12).
Leading the way this season for South Dakota State thus far is Macy Miller at 17.0 ppg. The junior guard has the ability to shoot the three as well as get to the free throw line (43-of-58). Just behind Miller is Madison Guebert, averaging 14.1 ppg.
The Jackrabbits like to create turnovers, forcing 158 (15.8) this season.

WBB and MBB Sweep UNO & UNL to Paint Nebraska BLUE
For the first time since the 1986-87 season both the Creighton men's and women's squads posted victories over UNL and UNO in the same season. Â
A primary reason for the long drought was that the women's team did not play UNO from 1988 until the Mavericks moved to division I in 2014. This season the Bluejay women bested UNO 71-52 on Sunday, while downing UNL 64-49 on Nov. 19. The Creighton men's team posted a 96-67 win over the Mavericks in a charity exhibition on Oct. 26 and its seventh straight win over UNL on Dec. 9, 75-65.

After departing D.J. Sokol Arena following a double overtime victory against Northern Iowa on Nov. 21, Friday will be Creighton's first game back at home in 24 days.

Elger Returns to the Hardwood
Sophomore Olivia Elger returned to the floor for the first time since the season opener in Creighton's win at Nebraska-Omaha on Sunday, Dec. 10. Elger grabbed two points, dished out three assists and collected four rebounds in 17 minutes against the Mavericks.
She had been sidelined after having a bone chip break lose in her right knee during the Bluejays' win over Wichita State on Nov. 10.

- Senior Sydney Lamberty and junior Audrey Faber topped the 1,000-point plateau in each of Creighton's last two contests. Lamberty did so with 21 at UNO on Sunday.
