Men's Tennis Receives No. 8 Seed For BIG EAST Championships

Bluejays open play on Friday against top-seeded DePaul
OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men's tennis team will be the No. 8 seed for the men's bracket of the 2017 BIG EAST Men's and Women's Tennis Championships Presented by Jeep, which will be played Thursday, April 27 through Sunday, April 30 at the Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center in Cayce, S.C.
The Bluejays will open play on Friday, April 28 at 9 a.m. ET (8 a.m. Central) against top-seeded DePaul.
Seeds for the tournament were determined by the conference's tennis championship and coaches' s seeding advisory committees that review each team's regular-season schedule, ITA rankings, results against BIG EAST and common non-conference opponents and wins/losses against ranked foes.
Creighton picked up its first victory against a BIG EAST opponent with a 4-3 win against Butler at the 2016 BIG EAST Championships. The win also marked the program's first at a league championship event since a win over Evansville at the 2004 Missouri Valley Conference Championships.
The Bluejays ended the 2017 regular-season 9-10 with wins in five of their final seven matches. Brooks Kendall leads the squad with 12 singles victories, while Aaron Chalstrom and Armando Gandini have paired up for a team-leading 11 doubles wins.
