Brooks Kendall Claims ITA Summer Circuit Crown

Prairie Village, Kan., native wins three-day event in Kansas City
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Creighton men's tennis athlete Brooks Kendall earned the singles championship at a 2017 ITA Summer Circuit event hosted by UMKC this past weekend at the Plaza Tennis Center in Kansas City, Mo.Â
Kendall won five matches over the course of three days (Friday-Saturday) to win the event. The future Bluejay senior defeated William Gleason (Lincoln, Neb.) 7-6, 7-5 during the title match on Sunday morning.Â
The Prairie Village, Kan., native did not drop a set during his five matches. He defeated Elliott Abromeit (Lawrence, Kan.) on Friday afternoon, and Rohit Chouhan (St. Louis, Mo.) and Brady Flanagan (Overland Park, Kan.) on Saturday to advance to Sunday's semifinals. Kendall, the three-seed, topped No. 2 seed Wyatt Lovera (Denver, Colo.) to advance to the championship match against the fifth-seeded Gleason.Â
Creighton's Alex Koca, Mac Mease and Michael Koch also competed in event. Mease advanced to the quarterfinals and Koch won his first match before falling to Mease.
Kendall and Koch and Mease and Koca also paired up for the doubles draw. Both duos finished 1-1.Â
