Women's Soccer Downed by Oklahoma State, 4-0

Stillwater, Okla. -- The Creighton women's soccer team dropped to 0-3-0 on the season as the Bluejays suffered a 4-0 defeat to Oklahoma State on Sunday, Aug. 27th. The Cowgirls moved to 4-0-0 with the win.
As the Bluejays have been throughout the first three matches, Creighton was strong defensively in the opening half. The Bluejays frustrated Oklahoma State as the two sides battled to a 0-0 score at the break. Creighton denied 10 first half shots by the Cowgirls, however Oklahoma State found openings in the second half to score four goals on 14 shots.
Sophomore goalkeeper McKenzie Meola followed her career-high 11 save performance against Wisconsin with seven saves on Sunday. During the week she faced a combined 48 shots in the two contests.
Creighton's best scoring chance of the match came midway through the first period as sophomore Taryn Jakubowski fired a shot from 20 yards the was deflected away by a defender to keep the Bluejays off the scoreboard.
Oklahoma State held Creighton to just two shots, the lowest total since 2000 when the Bluejays posted two shots against Nebraska (9/24) and BYU (9/8).
Creighton returns to the pitch on Thursday, Aug. 31 as the Bluejays play the fourth in a series of road contests to start the 2017 season at South Dakota. The match is set to kickoff at 4:00 pm.
