Scouting Creighton (6-8-0, 3-3-0 BIG EAST)
The victory over Villanova on Oct. 14 pushed the Bluejays to its second highest conference win total since joining the BIG EAST in 2013. Creighton posted four conference wins during the 2016 season.
With the exception of the Georgetown match the Bluejays battled through a highly competitive BIG EAST schedule. Each of the matches not involving the Hoyas have been decided by just one goal.
Creighton's defense was the difference against the Wildcats. Freshman goalkeeper Katie Sullivan delivered one of her better performances, stopping six shots to claim her second BIG EAST Freshman of the Week nod.
Offensively Creighton got it's goal versus the Wildcats from leading scorer Taryn Jakubowski as she converted a penalty kick in the 55th minute.
Scouting Butler (10-4-1, 4-1-1 BIG EAST)
Picked to return to the BIG EAST Championship match, Butler climbed into the United Soccer Coaches Association Top-25 earlier this season and is currently receiving votes for the second consecutive week.
After opening BIG EAST play with three straight wins, Butler struggled with road matches at Xavier (0-0 draw) and at St. John's (2-1 loss), but the Bulldogs rebounded to best DePaul last Sunday.
Offensively the Bulldogs have a very balanced attack, guided by the emergence Anja Savich (seven goals and two assists).
Defense, however, is the strength of the Butler program. The Bulldogs have allowed just 14 goals in 15 matches. Butler also has the luxary of two dependable goalkeepers. Leonie Doege and Hannah Luedtke have each seen over 675 minutes in net this season and both have recorded 16 saves. Two duo split time to the point that they share all eight shutouts.
Victory at Villanova Marks Bluejays' First Road BIG EAST Win Since 2015 and First Consecutive Conference Wins Since 2016
