Freshman floor general had 13 points, six rebounds and three assists vs. Green Bay
NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Creighton guard Marcus Zegarowski has been named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Monday, Dec. 17th.
Zegarowski had 13 points, six rebounds, three assists and a steal in Creighton's 86-65 win over Green Bay in his lone game last week.
Â
The freshman floor general made 4-of-8 shots, including a career-high three three-pointers on Friday. His six rebounds also tied a career-high.
Â
After Green Bay pulled within five points in the first eight minutes of the second half, Zegarowski scored the first five points during CU's decisive 16-5 run. The 35.0 percent shooting and 65 points were also season lows by a Creighton opponent and came against a high-powered Phoenix offense that ranked in the top-10 nationally by averaging more than 87 points per game.
Zegarowski's teammate in the backcourt, Mitch Ballock, landed a spot on the BIG EAST Honor Roll after 19 points and seven rebounds in Friday's victory.
Creighton returns to the court on Tuesday night with an 8:05 p.m. game at Oklahoma that will air on ESPNU.
