Women's Hoops Begins Florida Sunshine Classic on Thursday Against South Florida

Orlando, Fla -- The Creighton women's basketball team closes out non-conference play with back-to-back contests in the Florida Sunshine Classic, beginning Thursday evening against South Florida. The following night Creighton faces Vanderbilt in the final game of the tournament.

Series with South Florida: Creighton Leads 1-0
The first and only previous meeting between the Bluejays and the Bulls came during the 2012-13 season. The two teams met in Cancun during a holiday tournament, with the Bluejays posting a 91-74 victory.

Friday's contest with Vanderbilt will be the first meeting between the two squads.

Scouting Creighton (4-5)
Coming off a three-game win streak that brought the Bluejays back to .500, the Bluejays looked good at Florida State for about 32 minutes. The final eight, however, were something Creighton would like to forget as the Seminoles outscored the Bluejays 18-2 down the stretch.

Following a few days of rest the Bluejays close out its non-conference schedule with back-to-back battles against South Florida and Vanderbilt in the Florida Sunshine Classic beginning Thursday night against the Bulls.

Ali Greene Announces Retirement Due to Culmination of Injuries
After suffering a meniscus tear in her right knee in the Bluejays game with Northern Iowa on Nov. 20th, junior Ali Greene has made the decision to conclude her playing career at Creighton. Greene has battled through multiple injuries throughout her career. After
consulting with team and family doctors the decision was made. Greene will remain part of the team, traveling to virtually every game, and is on track to finish her degree in exercise science in the fall of 2019.
