Claire Orcutt and Gabby Tremblay will join the Bluejays in 2019
OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton women's golf has added a pair of recruits for the 2019-20 season, as head coach Debbie Conry announced the recent signings of Claire Orcutt and Gabby Tremblay.
"Both girls will make an immediate impact on our golf program," said Conry. "Both are very good students, with very good work ethic and are excited to become part of the Bluejay family"
Orcutt hails from Mankato, Minn., where she attends Loyola Catholic School. Orcutt has won six different events during a busy 2018 schedule, including five different events on the Junior Tour in Minnesota. She's qualified for the state tournament as both a sophomore and junior in high school, placing 10th last season while also helping her team qualify for state. Orcutt's father, Dave, also played golf at Creighton.
Tremblay comes to Creighton from Hayward, Wis., though she's spent the past two years at Shattuck St. Mary's School in Faribault, Minn. Tremblay played on the varsity team at Hayward (Wis.) High School as both a freshman and sophomore, helping the Hurricanes to the state tournament each campaign. She was named Heart of the North Conference Player of the Year and placed in the top-10 at the Division 2 State Tournament in 2016-17, averaging an 81.67 per round. Tremblay has finished in the top-10 of six different tournaments in 2018, including second-place finishes at the Chicago Fall Junior Open, the Minneapolis Junior Open and the Chicago Junior Open. Last year Tremblay placed in the top three of three events on the Future Collegians World Tour.
Both women also excel in the classroom, owning GPAs near 4.00.
The additions of Orcutt and Tremblay will help offset the departures of current seniors Sydney Gillespie, Rachel Grenko, Kelsey Johnson and Caroline Lake.
Creighton's 2018-19 team will return to the course in early February with the Motor City Cup.
