No. 13 Volleyball Wins Exhibition Over Kansas State

Bluejays open the regular-season next Friday vs. No. 5 Kentucky
OMAHA, Neb. -- The No. 13 Creighton Volleyball team defeated Kansas State on Friday night in exhibition action, winning the first three sets before dropping the final frame.
Scores of the match in favor of Creighton were 25-17, 25-18, 25-21, 24-26.
Creighton never trailed in the opening set, hitting a blistering .486 with 19 kills in 35 swings.
CU trailed 10-7 early in the second set before a 7-1 spurt moved the Bluejays in front for good. CU owned five blocks in the frame, including three in a five point stretch late in the set.
The third set featured three early lead changes before CU emerged with a 25-21 decision to clinch the match.
Due to the exhibition nature of the event, the teams had decided before the contest to play a minimum of four sets, so the teams kept on playing.
K-State trailed 24-23 in the fourth frame, but stared down a set point and scored the final three rallies to close out the evening on a winning note.
The match featured 30 ties and 12 lead changes, and was played before 1,286 fans at D.J. Sokol Arena.
Creighton opens the regular-season next Friday against No. 5 Kentucky at 12:30 pm Central at the Trojan Invitational in Los Angeles. CU also meets preseason Missouri Valley Conference favorite Northern Iowa on Friday at 7 pm Central before wrapping up the trip with a 9:30 pm Central match on Saturday at No. 10 USC.
