Women's Soccer Falls in Overtime, 1-0, To Butler During Annual Pink Out Game

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton women's soccer team fell 1-0 in overtime to Butler during Creighton's annual Pink Out Game on Thursday night at Morrison Stadium.
The Bulldogs converted the golden goal during the 93rd minute on a rebound attempt following a save.
The Bluejays dropped to 1-2-1 in BIG EAST play and 7-5-1 overall, while Butler improved to 2-1-1 in league action and 7-4-2 overall.
Creighton possessed the ball for the majority of the first half and held a 5-2 edge in shots at the break.
Skylar Heinrich fired the Bluejays' first shot during the second minute. The freshman launched the ball towards the left post but it stayed out of the net because of Butler's first save of the match.
Lauren Harkes forced the second save of the match with a strike from distance during the 14th minute.
Creighton's final shot on goal in the first half came following a corner kick during the 29th minute. Ansley Atkinson's corner kick found the head of Jaylin Bosak, but a Butler defender stopped the ball from crossing the end line and hitting the back of the net.
Katie Sullivan recorded one save during the opening 45 minutes.
The Bluejays had a dangerous opportunity during the 53rd minute as the Butler misplayed a back pass, setting up an indirect free kick from 15 yards away. Atkinson delivered a shot after a quick pass from Taryn Jakubowski, but the ball was blocked.
During the 71st minute, Creighton forced the Bulldogs' second team save of the night. Heinrich found Atkinson at the center of the six-yard box but the sophomore's shot stayed in play after a Butler defender cleared the ball just in front of the line.
The Bulldogs attempted the final shot of regulation in the 78th minute before three whistles were blown for offside prior to the 90-minute buzzer.
The Bluejays ended the match with a 14-10 advantage in shots and 8-3 edge in corner kicks. Sullivan concluded the night with four saves.
Creighton hits the road for a match at No. 10 Georgetown on Sunday afternoon at 12 p.m. Central.
