Bluejay Rowing Opens 2019-20 Season at Head of the Mississippi Regatta

Minneapolis, Minn. -- The Creighton women's Rowing team opened its 2019-20 season by competing in the Head of the Mississippi Regatta on Saturday, Oct. 5th. The Bluejays participated in four races; the Women's Open 2x, the Women's Collegiate Freshman 4+, the Women's Collegiate 4+ and the Women's Collegiate 8+.
The Bluejays' freshman team of Megan Dorheim (Coxswain), Angel Hill, Honor Foutch, Maeve Lee and Ava Edison won a two boat race with a team from Iowa State in a time of 30:19.567.
The tandem of Paige Bolton and Gretchen Strobbe placed third in the Women's Open 2x in 25:55.27.
Creighton placed fifth in the women's collegiate 4+ as the boat of Ally Einbeck (Coxswain), Makayla Schulte, Jordyn McDaniel, Katherine Libby and Lauren Miranda posted a time of 31:25.64.
The Women's Collegiate 8+ saw three Creighton boats compete; taking fifth (22:31.81), sixth (26.10.04) and seventh (27:54.36).
The fifth place team consisted of Bernadette Lyons (Coxswain), Claire Gastello, Paige Bolton, Destin Jordan, Emma Carpernder, Katie Graham, Maria Fier, Gabriela Ibarra and Alissa Dolan.
Creighton's sixth place squad was Madelyn Hampton (Coxswain), Ireland Betta, Erica Svenby, Jocelyn Avila, Kollyn Weimer, Lauren Anderson, Taylor Garrett, Engle Sharp and Karen Crouch.
Finally the seventh place Blujay boat held Ally Einbeck (Coxswain), Makayla Schulte, Angel Hill, Eliana Wright, Honor Foutch, Paige Shankland, Jordyn McDaniel, Katherine Libby and Lauren Miranda .
Creighton returns to the water on Sunday, Oct. 20th in Lawrence, Kansas as the Bluejays will take part in the Jayhawk Jamboree.
