Volleyball 13th in AVCA Poll; 18th in RPI

Creighton has won six straight matches
AVCA Top 25 Poll | NCAA Volleyball RPI
OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton Volleyball jumped one spot to a season-best 13th in the American Volleyball Coaches Association top-25 poll released on Monday, October 7. The Bluejays are 18th in the first official RPI rankings released by the NCAA on Monday.
The Bluejays improved to 11-3 after picking up 3-0 road wins last weekend at St. John's and Seton Hall. The Bluejays are now 4-0 in BIG EAST play and have won 27 consecutive matches against teams from the league.
No. 1 Baylor (13-0), No. 5 Nebraska (11-2) and No. 11 Washington (12-3) are the lone teams to beat the Bluejays thus far and have combined for a 36-5 record.
This week marks the 45th consecutive week the Bluejays have been ranked, the nation's 10th-longest active streak. The Bluejays have now been ranked in 59 all-time polls, and every poll since Oct. 31, 2016. CU's all-time best ranking in program history is No. 7, which came in the poll released on Aug. 28, 2017.
Baylor remained in the top spot in the poll, earning 60-of-64 first place votes. Stanford, Pitt, Texas and Nebraska are now second, third, fourth and fifth, respectively. Creighton's BIG EAST rival, Marquette, held steady at 10th after a 3-1 victory over Xavier on Wednesday.
Creighton also earned the No. 18 spot in the RPI rankings announced by the NCAA. Last year's team was No. 21 in the first official RPI rankings released on October 1 and did not crack the top 18 until October 29th. The three teams to beat Creighton so far are also highly-regarded in the RPI, with No. 1 Baylor, No. 4 Washington and No. 7 Nebraska all in the top-10.
Creighton is 98-25 all-time when playing as a ranked team in the AVCA poll, including a 31-11 mark on the road, where the Jays will be this weekend. The Bluejays return to the court this weekend on Friday at 11 a.m. Central with a match at DePaul before visiting No. 10 Marquette on Saturday at 6 p.m.
