AVCA Top 25 Poll | NCAA Volleyball RPI

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton Volleyball team remained a season-best ninth in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll that was released on Monday. It's the 20th time in program history that CU has landed in the top 10, which includes each of the last three weeks as well as 12 consecutive weeks a year ago.

CU is one of 37 programs all-time to spend 20 weeks or more in the AVCA's top-10. Creighton is one of just nine programs to have spent at least one week in the AVCA Top 10 in each of the last four seasons, a list that consists of BYU, Creighton, Florida, Minnesota, Nebraska, Penn State, Stanford, Texas and Wisconsin.

The Bluejays improved to 19-3 after picking up 3-0 wins at home last weekend over St. John's and Seton Hall, tying the program's best record ever after 22 contests. The Bluejays are now 12-0 in BIG EAST play and have won 35 consecutive matches against teams from the league.

No. 3 Baylor (19-1), No. 7 Nebraska (18-3) and No. 14 Washington (17-5) are the lone teams to beat the Bluejays thus far and have combined for a 54-9 record.

This week marks the 49th consecutive week the Bluejays have been ranked, the nation's 10th-longest active streak. The Bluejays have now been ranked in 63 all-time polls, and every poll since Oct. 31, 2016. CU's all-time best ranking in program history is No. 7, which came in the poll released on Aug. 28, 2017.

With the top 11 teams in the country going a combined 21-1 last week, there was little change in this week's edition of the poll. Texas remained in the top spot in this week's poll, earning 43-of-64 first place votes. Pitt, Baylor, Wisconsin and Stanford remain second, third, fourth and fifth, respectively. Creighton's BIG EAST rival, Marquette, is still 10th.

The Bluejays also moved to 19th in the fifth official RPI listings released by the NCAA. Creighton, which appeared in the NCAA RPI rankings at No. 10 on October 14, now stands at No. 19 in the NCAA RPI despite six straight 3-0 sweeps since the initial reveal. It's two spots worse than the program's RPI ranking at this time a year ago, when CU ended up with the No. 9 national seed. The three teams to beat Creighton so far are also highly-regarded in the RPI, with No. 1 Baylor, No. 6 Washington and No. 7 Nebraska all in the top-7.

Creighton is 106-25 all-time when playing as a ranked team in the AVCA poll, including a 35-11 mark on the road, where the Jays will be this weekend. The Bluejays visit Villanova on Friday at 6 p.m. Central, then meet Georgetown on Saturday at 4 p.m. Central.
