About UNO
Scouting UNO (0-0)
The Mavericks return an experienced core from a team that finished last year with an 8-21 record. The returning group delivered 1,424 of the Mavericks' 1,733 points (82.2%) and 4,462 of the 5,800 minutes played (76.9%).  UNO offers a very balance scoring attack as seven players from last years team averaged between 5.3 and 9.4 ppg. Senior Rayanna Carter is expected to lead the way for the Mavericks after scoring 274 points (9.4 ppg).
The Mavericks were 6-8 at home last season, including a 70-61 win over Purdue-Fort Wayne to close out the 2018-19 schedule at Baxter Arena.
Scouting Creighton (0-0)
Creighton lost two starters a 15-16 team last season. The toughest departure from the 2018-19 Bluejay squad was forward Audrey Faber, who scored a team-high 509 points. In its lone exhibition contest, the Bluejays faced off with NAIA Division II national champion Concordia, besting the Bulldogs 85-83 in double overtime. During the win senior Jaylyn Agnew notched 17 points and 19 rebounds, while senior Olivia Elger led the team with 21 points.
The departure of Faber as well as point guard Jade Owens will force the Bluejays to be a very different team in 2019-20. Offensively Creighton is expected to rely on Agnew, junior Temi Carda as well as Elger. Yet freshmen Dee Dee Pryor, Carly Bachelor and Mykel Parham will each play a significant role this season.
Recap of Last Meeting with the Mavericks
Led by 42 points from the trio of Audrey Faber, Jaylyn Agnew and freshman Chloe Dworak, the Creighton women's basketball team posted a 66-51 win over UNO on Dec. 5.
Although the game remained close throughout the second period, Creighton did not yield the lead. The Bluejays got the first bucket of the second quarter at the 7:21 mark as sophomore Olivia Elger drained her first trey of the half. With Creighton clinging to a 28-26 advantage in the closing seconds, a costly UNO turnover with 1.1 left on the clock led to a Bluejay bucket from Griglione to send the game to halftime with Creighton up 30-26.
Coming out of the break the two squads traded buckets over the next four minutes, but Creighton hit a couple of trifectas to push out to a 40-37 edge with 4:15 left. The Bluejays marksmanship improved down the stretch of the third as Dworak, Elger and Agnew each connected from downtown to help send the game to the final quarter with Creighton holding a 49-41 lead.
Faber opened the fourth with consecutive three-pointers to push the Bluejays' edge to 14 at 55-41 (7:54) to put the game away. Faber led Creighton with 16 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in the game, while Agnew delivered 13 points and nine boards in her return to the floor. Dworak also reached double-figures with a career-high 12 points. The Mavericks got a game-high 18 points from Rayanna Carter and a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds from Claire Killian.
