Braasch Named CoSida Academic All-District First Team

Atkinson Collects Second Team Honor
Omaha, Neb. -- A pair of women's soccer players work in the classroom was recognized on Thursday, Nov. 7th as senior Emma Braasch was named to the CoSida Academic All-District 7 (Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas) First Team, while sophomore Ansley Atkinson earned a spot on the Second Team.
The 2019 Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Honorees selected First Team Academic All-District® will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot, announced in early December.
A fifth-year senior for the Bluejays, Braasch completed her undergraduate degree in Marketing and Finance in the spring of 2019 with a 3.93 GPA. She is in the process of completing her MBA and has a 3.8 GPA thus far. Emma closed her career appearing in 67 matches for the Bluejays, including 50 starts. She logged a combined 4,566 minutes with an amazing ability to adapt to the needs of her team. Braasch not only played, but started as a forward, midfielder as well as a defender during her career. Spending her final two seasons as a defender along the Bluejay back line. The Kansas native scored three goals and delivered a pair of assists in her four year career.
A chemistry major, Atkinson entered the fall of 2019 with a 4.00. The midfielder has started each of her 35 matches over two seasons at Creighton, logging a combined 1,929 minutes. The Minnesota native had two goals and team leading six assists this season, giving her three goals and eight assists in her career.
