Omaha, Neb. -- The Creighton women's basketball team opens BIG EAST play on Sunday, Dec. 29th as the Bluejays travel to the nation's capital to face Georgetown.

Series with Georgetown: Bluejays Lead Hoyas, 8-4
Creighton holds an 8-4 series edge on the Hoyas, with the two teams splitting two games last season. The Bluejays are 3-3 in Washington, D.C. suffering a 62-53 loss there late last season.

About Georgetown
After losing four starters from last season, the Hoyas are in the midst of a transitional season, 10 of the Hoyas' 14 players have been in the starting lineup. The results have led Georgetown to a 3-8 start, including an 0-3 record at home. Yet the beginning of BIG EAST play offers a new start and the Hoyas enter the conference season coming off a win in their last contest.
Georgetown's offense is directed by the tandem of Taylor Barnes (11.4 ppg) and Brianna Jones (10.1 ppg). The Hoyas are shooting just 33.9% from the field, but Georgetown is averaging just over 14 offensive rebounds per game (14.1).
Defensively the Hoyas have limited their opposition to 38.8% from the field and have averaged near seven steals per game.
Scouting Creighton (8-3)
The Bluejays put themselves into good position to return to the post-season with a strong showing in the non-conference.
Senior Jaylyn Agnew has been the constant for Creighton this season, averaging 17.9 ppg, while guards Olivia Elger (11.6 ppg), Tatum Rembao (11.0 ppg) and Temi Carda (10.2 ppg) are each averaging double figures. Another player that has emerged for the Bluejays recently is sophomore Rachael Saunders. The Iowa native delivered 11 and 13 rebounds respectively in Creighton's last two victories.
The Bluejays have turned to their defense early on this season forcing teams into 14.3 turnovers per game and limiting seven of 11 opponents to 63 points or less. Creighton is 6-1 in those battles.
Agnew First Bluejay in Over Four Years to Earn a Master in Larceny
Senior Jaylyn Agnew swiped an impressive six steals against Arizona State on Dec. 20th, becoming the first Bluejays to notch at least five steals in one game since Jade Owens collected seven steals against Eastern Washington on Nov. 28th in 2015.

As a program Creighton is 21-11 overall in conference openers. Under Flanery the Bluejays are 12-5 in conference openers, including a 4-2 mark in its first six seasons as a member of the BIG EAST.
