Women's Basketball Takes To the Road for Critical Battle at Butler
2/13/2019 1:11:00 PM | Women's Basketball
Omaha, Neb. -- Looking for a little bit of payback for a lopsided loss at home in January, the Creighton women's basketball team begins a crucial three-game road trip on Friday at Butler. The Bulldogs enter with plenty of motivation themselves as Butler is clinging to hopes of an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament. The two squads collide in Hinkle Fieldhouse at 6:00 pm (CT). The game can be found on the BIG EAST Digital Network.

Starting Unit
Before Creighton's battle with Seton Hall on Feb. 10, head coach Jim Flanery did something he hadn't done in his entire coaching career. Flan asked his team to vote on a starting unit.
The result was the Bluejays' 10th unique starting five of the season. Injuries had forced Creighton to piece together a miss-match unit many times this season, with none starting more than five games. The starting five against Seton Hall was Temi Carda, Olivia Elger and Jade Owens in the backcourt, while Jaylyn Agnew and Audrey Faber played the frontcourt roles.
Down 14, Bluejays May Have Found Their Spark
Down 46-32 with 7:02 remaining in the third quarter to Seton Hall on February 10th, Creighton went on a 37-7 run over the next 12:34 to surge ahead 69-53. During the run the Bluejays went 9-of-13 from the field (69%) and hit 14-of-18 (78%) from the foul line.
Agnew and Owens Deliver a Pair of Double-Doubles
Creighton's comeback was pushed along by double-doubles from junior Jaylyn Agnew and senior Jade Owens. Agnew closed the game with 18 points and 14 rebounds, for her second double-double of the season and sixth in her career. Owens finshed with 12 points and 10 rebounds, posting the first double-double of her career.
Bluejays Getting Healthy at the Right Time
Although the Bluejays have battled through injuries throughout the 2018-19 season, entering the closing stretch of five games Creighton may be as healthy as the squad has been this season. The only player missing action as the team heads to Butler is forward Ali Greene, who retired earlier this season.
