Faber Returns to Form in 73-64 Win at Providence
Coming off just her third career two-point performance, Faber has scored at least two points in every game as a Bluejay, the Iowa native registered her 28th career 20+ point game with 21 in Creighton's 73-64 win at Providence on Feb. 23. In the win over the Friars, Faber finished 8-of-17 with five rebounds in 38 minutes.
BIG EAST Championship Seeding Up For Grabs in Final Weekend
The final weekend of regular-season action in BIG EAST women's basketball is upon us as teams battle for the seven remaining seeds in the conference tournament. Only three squads have locked up their spots in the BIG EAST Tournament presented by Jeep – No. 1 seed Marquette, No. 2 seed DePaul and No. 10 seed Xavier. Creighton could climb as high as the fourth seed and fall as far as the eighth seed.
Bluejays Remain Perfect, 4-0, when Flanery Jumps in the Layup Line
Over the past two seasons head coach Jim Flanery has jumped into the Bluejays' layup line prior to four games. It began at Marquette on Feb. 4, 2018 in a road pink game. Flan
continued the trend in Creighton's pink game against Seton Hall on Feb. 10, 2019. Then did it once more in the Bluejays game at Xavier on Feb. 17, 2019, also a road pink game. At the urging of his squad Flan participated in the layup line at Providence. A few differences is that it was not a pink game, thus he did not have his pink basketball shoes. In addition it was the first time Flan did not convert on the reverse layup. Despite the changes, the Bluejays moved to 4-0 when Flan has jumped into the layup line.
Creighton's Three Point Pace Has Slowed
After hitting at least double-digit treys in 10 of their first 13 games, the Bluejays have topped 10 three-pointers in just four of their last 14 contest. During the first 13 games the Bluejays were averaging 11.0 treys per game (143). Over the last 14 contests Creighton has hit 116 from beyond the arc, 8.3 per game. The Creighton record for three-pointers in a season is 302 during the 2012-13 season.
