Men's Basketball Signs Jalen Windham

OMAHA, Neb. -- Indianapolis native Jalen Windham has signed to play with the Creighton University men's basketball program, head coach Greg McDermott announced on Thursday, April 25.

A 6-5 shooting guard, Windham averaged 17.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per game and shot 37.0 percent from three-point range during his senior year of high school as he helped Ben Davis High School to the Class 4A title game. He was named an IndyStar Indiana All-Star.

"We're excited about Jalen's potential, in particular," said Creighton head coach Greg McDermott. "He's a great shooter who gets it off quick. Every time it leaves his hand it looks like it's going in. He's very underrated as a passer. I think his ability to see the floor and make plays not just for himself but for his teammates is something that's he's going to bring to our program. He recognizes he has to get a little bit stronger and improve some on the defensive end like a lot of freshmen, but I think he's got an incredibly bright future with our program."

As a junior, Windham averaged 14 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 46 percent from downtown and 86 percent at the line.

Windham also was a key player on the Giants' state title team as a sophomore in 2017.

Regarded as one of the top shooters in his class, Windham made 31-of-67 three-pointers (46.2 percent) of his long-range attempts in the Nike EYBL circuit last summer. That ranked tops among players with 60 or more attempts. He averaged 8.5 points per game in 16 games in the EYBL last summer.

Windham joins former Omaha Burke standout Shereef Mitchell as incoming freshman recruits for Creighton's 2019-20 season.

Creighton finished the 2018-19 season with a 20-15 record, advancing to the quarterfinals of the National Invitation Tournament while winning 20 or more games for the 19th time in the last 21 seasons.
