WCC Announces 2018-19 Rowing All-Academic Team
San Bruno, Calif. – Six Bluejays were honored with selection to the WCC All-Academic Team, highlighted by Katie Graham earning a spot on the All-Academic First Team.
The West Coast Conference announced its 2018-19 Rowing All-Academic Team. This year's 17-member team is comprised of student-athletes who have excelled both on the water and in the classroom. There are six returners from the 2017-18 team, including Gonzaga's Olivia Lada and Portland's Acacia Wellsford, who have now earned WCC All-Academic honors in three straight years.
WCC champion Gonzaga led the way with five honorees, followed by Portland with three. San Diego, LMU, Saint Mary's and Santa Clara placed two rowers each on the team, while Creighton placed one. All told, 47 rowers achieved a 3.50 GPA while 29 reached the 3.75 mark.
At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to her team.
