Bluejay Women's Hoops Looks to Rebound Against Xavier on Friday

Omaha, Neb. -- Happy to be home, the Creighton women's basketball will battle Xavier on Friday as the Bluejays begin the final two games of the first half of BIG EAST play.

Series with Xavier: Bluejays Lead Musketeers 10-2
Creighton holds a significant edge on Xavier since the two became BIG EAST foes with 10 wins in 12 contests. The Bluejays have earned a win in each of the six meetings in Omaha. Despite the Bluejays decisive edge in the win column, the Musketeers have been more than competitive, twice forcing overtime and falling by just one point in Cincinnati last season.

Scouting Xavier (2-16, 1-6 BIG EAST)
After opening the season with a win over Utah, the Musketeers lost 13 consecutive games. That string came to an end with a decisive 85-64 win at Georgetown on Jan. 10th.
Junior forward A'Riana Gray leads Xavier with 16.3 ppg and 9.5 rpg, but the Musketeers have three other options averaging between 7.9-9.4 ppg in Carrie Gross (9.4 ppg), Aaliyah Dunham (8.7 ppg) and Lauren Wasylson (7.9 ppg).
In BIG EAST action Gray has pushed her average to 20.1 ppg. In addition the Musketeers have added another scoring option in Sara Leyendecker (9.1 ppg).
Defensively Xavier is forcing just under 17 turnovers per game, yet the Musketeers are committing just over 17 turnovers per game.
Scouting Creighton (12-6, 4-3 BIG EAST)
After a difficult weekend that saw the Bluejays suffer losses at Seton Hall and St. John's, the Bluejays look to get healthy as they return home.
Creighton played the Sunday game without leading scorer Jaylyn Agnew due to a concussion suffered against the Pirates. In addition point guard Tatum Rembao has been along the sideline with a knee injury for eight games. The good news is both are expected to return this weekend, if only in a limited role. Â
Agnew has carried the load on offense with 19.8 ppg, while junior Temi Carda has provided a complimentary scoring punch. In the battle with St. John's Carda delivered a team-high 19 points.
Defensively the Bluejays have made a jump, limiting teams to 62 ppg.
