About Providence
Scouting Providence (9-7, 0-4 BIG EAST)
After a very promising start to the season that saw the Friars go 8-1 over the first nine games, Providence has lost six of seven. The Friars have opened BIG EAST play with four losses, including a tough 51-49 loss at Villanova on Dec. 29th.
The tandem of Mary Baskerville and Kaela Webb are each posting double figures this season at 14.2 and 11.2 ppg respectively. In conference play those numbers have ballooned to 16.3 ppg for Baskerville and 10.8 ppg for Webb.
Providence has struggled from the field in BIG EAST play, shooting just 39 % from the field at 88-for-224 (39.3 %).
Scouting Creighton (11-4, 3-1 BIG EAST)
The Bluejays dropped a hard fought game with No. 16 DePaul on Sunday, the fourth BIG EAST game in eight days for the beleaguered Bluejay squad.
Playing with a depleted roster due to the injury of point guard Tatum Rembao, the Bluejays still started BIG EAST play strongly. Two primary reasons the Bluejays have gotten out to a quick burst in conference is the play of senior Jaylyn Agnew (24.8 ppg and 8.0 rpg in four BIG EAST games) and junior Temi Carda (17.3 ppg in conference).
Throughout the season the Bluejays have relied on their defense to keep them in games as Creighton is limiting opponents to 60.5 ppg. Creighton has not allowed more than 75 points in a game this season and have held six opponents to under 60 points.
Keys To the Game
Agnew Collects Fourth BIG EAST Player of the Week Nod, Second Straight
Agnew claimed her fourth certificate of the season after leading the BIG EAST in scoring last week with a 25.3 points per game clip, along with the second-highest rebounding average at 9.3. The senior eclipsed the 30-point mark for the second time this season with 31 points in Tuesday's win (Dec. 31st) at Villanova. She followed with 27 points and nine boards in a win over Marquette on Friday, before capping the week with her second double-double of the year with 18 points and a game-high 10 rebounds in the Bluejays' three-point setback to No. 16/17 DePaul.
Jaylyn is the FIRST Bluejay to claim four conference Player of the Week awards in a single season. She is in a five-way tie for the most Player of the Week honors in a Creighton career with Laura Spanheimer (2001-05), Christy Neneman (2000-04), Becky Flynn (1992-96) and Shannon Struby (1990-94).
Agnew on the Verge of Becoming Just 15th Bluejay with at least 1,000 Points and 600 Rebounds
Entering the game with Providence on Jan. 11, senior Jaylyn Agnew has 1,307 points and 594 rebounds. With six rebounds, she will become just the 15th
player in Bluejay history to score over 1,000 points and grab at least 600 rebounds. The last player to do so was Audrey Faber, who finished her career (2015-19) with 1,857 points and 601 rebounds.

Keys To the Game
- Controlling the Paint: Providence will certainly want to pound the ball inside to its strength. Creighton, meanwhile, must find ways to make center Mary Baskerville work for each basket and cause her to be uncomfortable. In the Friars win in Omaha last season, Providence outscored Creighton 34-18 in the paint
- Agnew: In BIG EAST play, Creighton senior Jaylyn Agnew is averaging 24.8 ppg. Providence must find a way to slow her down without opening driving lanes for Carda and others.
- Second and Third Scoring Option: The primary option for both Providence (Baskerville) and Creighton (Agnew) is clear. But the team that can get their respective second and third scoring option going will have a clear advantage on Saturday.
