Bluejays finalize non-conference slate with game vs. Nebraska.
OMAHA, Neb. -- Men's basketball coach Greg McDermott announced that the Bluejays will close non-conference play on Friday, Dec. 11 when Creighton hosts Nebraska at CHI Health Center Omaha.
A start time and broadcast network will be announced at a later date.
It'll be the 54th meeting in history between the Bluejays and Cornhuskers, a series that Creighton leads 27-26. Creighton has won 12 straight regular-season home games over NU and owns a 19-9 lead all-time in games contested in Omaha. Last year Creighton raced to a 37-7 lead in the first 14 minutes and defeated NU 95-76. The win improved McDermott to 14-4 in his career against NU (8-2 as Creighton coach), and 9-0 in home games (5-0 as Creighton coach).
Next month's meeting will mark the first time that Creighton has hosted Nebraska in consecutive seasons since December of 1986 and 1987. It's also the first time CU will have hosted NU in consecutive meetings since a December 2003 match-up that was followed by a March 2004 NIT encounter.
Creighton is scheduled to open the 2020-21 season on Nov. 25 at the Bad Boy Mowers Crossover Classic with a game against South Dakota State in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Bluejays are ranked 11th nationally in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches preseason polls.
