Women's Basketball Hits the Road to Battle Northern Iowa on Saturday

Omaha, Neb. -- The Creighton women's basketball squad opens it road schedule on Saturday, Nov. 28 in Cedar Falls, Iowa against Northern Iowa at 2:00 pm.

Bluejays not Blue Jays:
Creighton's mascot is the Bluejays or Bluejay, one word. Conversely the MLB Toronto team is the Blue Jays.

Series with Northern Iowa: Creighton Leads 38-18
The Bluejays hold a 38-18 edge on the Panthers, taking eight of the last ten meetings. Last season Creighton rallied in the fourth quarter for a 57-54 win at home last season. The Bluejays are 14-13 against the Panthers in Cedar Falls.

Scouting Northern Iowa (0-1)
A veteran team the Panthers have nine combined years in their front court with senior Bre Gunnels and redshirt senior Megan Maahs. Homegrown star Kam Finley led her team with 22 points in the season opener against Iowa on Nov. 25. The Panthers, however, fell to the Hawkeyes 96-81.

Scouting Creighton (0-1)
A bit out of sorts in the opener, Creighton was without the services of starting point guard Tatum Rembao due to Covid protocols. The opening forced Flanery to slide Carda to the point, but allowed junior Chloe Dworak to step forward with 11 points in a spot start. Rembao is not expected back at Northern Iowa.

Three-Point Streak Keeps Going and Going and Going
The Bluejays have hit at least one three-pointer in 400 consecutive games. During Flanery's 578 games at the helm, just once were the Bluejays held scoreless from long range. Creighton went 0-for-6 from beyond the arc against Southern Illinois on Feb. 14, 2008.
