Series with Connecticut: Creighton Trails 1-0
The Bluejays and Huskies met during the 2014-15 season in Gampel Pavilion on Nov. 23. The top ranked team at the time, Connecticut posted a 96-60 win to begin a 108 game winning streak. The Huskies lost the game prior to facing Creighton to Stanford (88-86 in overtime in Palo Alto, Calif.).
Scouting #3 Connecticut (2-0, 1-0 BIG EAST)
The oddity of the 2020-21 season did not escape the UConn program as the Huskies were forced to halt their season before it even began. As a result Connecticut did not play its first game until Dec. 12 against UMass Lowell, posting a 79-23 win. On Dec. 15 Connecticut's return to the conference became official as UConn handled Seton Hall 92-65.
Connecticut returns to the BIG EAST in 2020-21 with another deeply talented team, led by freshman recruit Paige Bueckers. The Minnesota native is averaging 21.0 ppg and shooting 76% from the field with 19-of-25 made field goals.
Two areas that will undoubtedly improve as the season goes on for Connecticut are free throw shooting (60.9%) and three-point shooting (25.7%).
Scouting Creighton (1-3, 1-0 BIG EAST)
The return of senior point guard Tatum Rembao has allowed the Bluejay offense to find its rhythm in back-to-back victories.
Rembao's presence has allowed fellow senior Temi Carda to get less attention and has also helped Creighton's ball movement.
In Creighton's victory over Nebraska, Carda and Rembao each posted a team-high 18 points,
Though the Bluejays finished with 13 made
three-pointers, the Bluejays hit just three in the second half. In addition Creighton allowed Nebraska to score 32 points in the paint.
Keys To the Game on Thursday, Dec. 17
Carda on the Verge of 1,000 Points
Senior Temi Carda needs just three points to become Creighton's 30th player in history to reach 1,000 points.
Bueckers No Stranger to Bluejay Quartet

Keys To the Game on Thursday, Dec. 17
- Combating Connecticut's Height: While the Bluejays are taller than they've been in recent years, UConn starting unit has an average height of 6-1. By contrast the Bluejays starting five average is just over 5-10.
- Three-Point Shooting: Creighton hit 13 treys in the win against Nebraska and also had 13 on its first trip to Gampel in 2014.
- Ball Security: Connecticut is averaging 12.5 steals per game in 2020-21, while Creighton is committing 12.2 turnovers per contest. To stay with a team as talented as the Huskies, Creighton must limit both of these numbers.
