Bluejays picked up three three-set victories
The Bluejays improved to 2-4 with the victory.
Creighton earned the doubles point with a come-from-behind effort. The Roos took a 1-0 edge in doubles action with a 6-4 win, but the Bluejays claimed victories at the other two positions. Joe Hoff and Stratton Brown posted a 6-4 win at No. 2, while Jose Oscar Diaz and Daniel Lopez-Rey combined for a 6-3 victory at the No. 3 position.
The Bluejays tallied three straight-sets victories to clinch the overall dual before winning three other matches that went three sets. Hoff (No. 6), Mac Mease (No. 3) and Diaz (No. 4) each won in straight-sets. Diaz's 6-3, 6-1 win at the No. 4 position clinched the dual.
Nick Campbell and Brown each won first sets but dropped second sets before winning third-set 10-point tiebreakers. Campbell won 6-3 in the first frame at No. 1 and fell 6-1 in the second but won 10-4 in the deciding set. Brown earned a 7-6 victory in the opening set at No. 2, lost 6-3 in the second and responded with a 10-4 win in the third.
Lopez-Rey dropped his first set at No. 5, but won 6-4 in the second to force a deciding set. The junior won 10-8 in the deciding 10-point tiebreaker.
"We played a very solid match today," head coach Tom Lilly said. "The energy was good and everyone showed up to compete for a full match. This should give us some confidence heading into two very tough matches next weekend."
Creighton returns to the courts next weekend for a pair of road matches. The Bluejays will face Green Bay on Friday at 2 p.m. before facing Marquette in Milwaukee on Feb. 22.
