Bluejay WBB Closes Out Regular Season Road Schedule at Xavier

Cincinnati, Ohio -- The Creighton women's basketball team closes out its regular-season road schedule on Sunday as the Bluejays face Xavier at 1:00 pm (CT).

Series with Xavier: Bluejays Lead Musketeers 11-2
Creighton holds a significant edge on Xavier since the two became BIG EAST foes with 11 wins in 13 contests. The Bluejays have earned a win in each of the last seven meetings. Despite the Bluejays decisive edge in the win column, the Musketeers have been more than competitive, twice forcing overtime and falling by just one point in Cincinnati last season.

Xavier comes into the game with Creighton on a high as the Musketeers defeated Providence 61-42 on Friday afternoon.
Junior A'riana Gray leads Xavier with 16.4 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. In the first game with the Bluejays this season she had 17 points and 11 rebounds.
An area of weakness for the Musketeers this season has been their three-point shooting. Xavier was 2-of-14 (14.3%) in the first meeting with the Bluejays. On the season the Musketeers hit just under 33% at 163-of-496.
Scouting Creighton (16-10, 8-7 BIG EAST)
The Bluejay defense was off on on Friday, allowing Butler to shoot better than 50% in the game and go 9-of-18 from beyond the arc. Creighton fell behind by as much as 23 in the third quarter and despite closing within 12 early in the fourth, the deficit was too much to overcome.
Senior Jaylyn Agnew is the driving force for Creighton on offense, leading the team with 21.0 ppg and 5.7 rpg. Beyond the arc the Bluejays turn to junior guards Tatum Rembao (13-of-27) and Temi Carda (30-of-72) as the duo shoot a combined 43% from long range on the season.

Agnew Leads NCAA in Free Throw Shooting Percentage, Has Hit 39 Straight
Agnew went 2-for-2 from the charity stripe at Butler, to extend her streak to 39 consecutive free throws. She is one away from tying the Bluejay record of 40 consecutive set by Sam Schuett during the 2009-10 season from Dec. 13th to Jan.29th.
She leads the NCAA in that category.

- Gray vs. Agnew: Agnew was unable to play in the first meeting with the Musketeers, but she will be asked to temper Gray's impact defensively and add impact for the Bluejays on offense.
- Rebounding: Xavier grabbed 50 rebounds, including 17 on the offensive end, in the first meeting. Fortunately for Creighton the Musketeers only managed 14 second chance points on those attempts.
- Consistency Beyond the Arc: Creighton was just 6-of-21 (28.6%) against the Musketeers in the first game, while the Bluejays went 8-of-29 (27.6%) versus Butler on Friday.
