Marcus Zegarowski Named Second Team All-American By NBC Sports

Sophomore guard leads CU in assists and is second in scoring
OMAHA, Neb. – Creighton men's basketball sophomore Marcus Zegarowski has been named a Second Team All-American by NBC Sports.
A Hamilton, Mass., native, Zegarowski is averaging 16.1 points, 5.1 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game. He's shooting 48.8 percent from the field, 42.4 percent from three-point range and 76.3 percent at the charity stripe. He's played his best in some of CU's biggest games, averaging 18.9 points per game while shooting 60.4 percent from the field and 51.4 percent from three-point range in eight games against top-25 foes.
Zegarowski ranks third in the BIG EAST in assists per game (5.1), third in three-point percentage (.424), fifth in assist/turnover ratio (1.95), sixth in three-pointers made per game (2.42), sixth in points per game (16.1), sixth in minutes per game (34.6) and 11th in field goal percentage (.488). The point guard was also named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team on Sunday.
Zegarowski is the first Creighton student-athlete named an All-American by NBC Sports since Doug McDermott in 2013-14.
Ranked seventh nationally, Creighton (24-7) opens play at the BIG EAST Tournament Presented by Jeep on Thursday at 11 a.m. Central when it faces either Georgetown or St. John's. The game will be nationally televised by FS1.
