Agnew Named College Sports Madness National Player of the Week

She Also Earns Sixth BIG EAST Player of the Week Honor
Omaha, Neb. -- The accolades for Jaylyn Agnew's final home weekend as a Bluejays started to pour in on Monday, March 2nd as College Sports Madness named the forward the National Player of the Week. In addition Agnew collected her sixth BIG EAST Player of the Week.
Agnew had a record-breaking final weekend at D.J. Sokol Arena, averaging 31.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals to lead the Bluejays to a 2-0 finish. In Sunday's regular-season finale against Georgetown, Agnew set the Creighton single-game scoring record with 43 points. Agnew's total surpassed the 42 point mark held by Connie Yori since Dec. 12, 1982 at Iowa State. The Bluejay program advisor was on bench to witness her record fall as Agnew was 15-of-25 from the field and drained 8-of-17 from deep. She also tied the BIG EAST single-game mark of 43, set by Louisville's Angel McCoughtry in 2008-09 with 43 points. Additionally, Agnew went 10-for-10 from the free-throw line this weekend to finish BIG EAST play a perfect 43-of-43 to set the conference's single-season free-throw percentage record. She enters the BIG EAST Tournament having knocked down 50 consecutive from the charity stripe, also a Bluejay record. She added 20 points, eight boards and three blocks in Friday's win over Villanova.

BIG EAST Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week
Jordan King, Marquette, Fr., G
King sparked the Golden Eagles to a win over No. 16/15 DePaul for the first top-25 win of the Megan Duffy era. The rookie point guard totaled 16 points off 6-of-10 shooting, including a 2-of-4 mark from beyond the arc. King started off hot, scoring seven points in the opening 10 minutes as Marquette built up a double-digit lead in the first quarter. She added a pair of assists and went 2-for-2 from the free-throw line to help halt DePaul's fourth-quarter rally.

Alissa Alston, St. John's, R-Sr., G
Alston led the Red Storm in a crucial 2-0 weekend, averaging 14.5 points, 4.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds in victories over Butler and Xavier.
Kelly Campbell, DePaul, Sr., G
Campbell flirted with a double-double at Marquette on Sunday, totaling 15 points, eight rebounds and a game-high eight assists, while adding four steals. Campbell scored 12 points in the final 10 minutes alone as the Blue Demons trimmed a 22-point fourth-quarter deficit to five with under 90 seconds to play.
Mary Gedaka, Villanova, Sr., F
Gedaka led the Wildcats with 18.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and .560 shooting in a 1-1 road swing. Her shooting clip moved her to .565 for her BIG EAST career to finish 20th all-time in field goal percentage, becoming just the second Villanova player to crack that list along with Shelly Pennefather.
Alexis Lewis, R-Sr., G/F
Lewis led Seton Hall to a pivotal 2-0 weekend, averaging 20.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 2.5 assists. She shot .452 from the field and reached the 20-point mark in both games, including a 21-point, 10-rebound double-double against Xavier on Friday night.
Selena Lott, Marquette, Jr., G
Lott stuffed the stat sheet in a banner win over rival and 16th-ranked DePaul, totaling 20 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. She was 6-of-10 from the field.
