NEW YORK –  The BIG EAST Conference has announced the names of nearly 3,000 student-athletes who have been selected to the 2019-20 BIG EAST All-Academic Team.
Creighton had 170 student-athletes honored, which broke down to 94 women and 76 men. The women's soccer team had 23 players earn recognition to lead all Bluejay programs, while the 22 selections from baseball paced CU's men's sports.

Nominations for the All-Academic Team are submitted by each of the BIG EAST's 10 member schools and affiliate institutions. To be eligible for the honor, a nominee must have competed in a BIG EAST-sponsored sport, attained a minimum grade-point average of 3.00 for the preceding academic year, and completed a minimum of two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters of academic work, with a total of 18 semester or 27 quarter credits, not including remedial courses.

There are 2,766 honorees for the 2019-20 academic year. For the third-consecutive year Villanova led all schools with 370 student-athletes recognized. Georgetown was a close second with 365. Butler had 286 student-athletes receiving certificates, rounding out the top three for the second year. Affiliate student-athletes made up 212 of the honorees.
Creighton's student-athletes averaged a 3.479 GPA in the recently-completed spring semester, with 91.5 percent of the grades earned by the student-athletes a B- or above.
