Volleyball Announces Non-Conference Schedule

COVID-19 pandemic moves normal fall season to the spring
OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton Volleyball program spent much of last fall and the last nine days on the practice floor hoping for the chance to play in the spring of 2021. On Thursday, that patience was rewarded with the announcement of seven non-conference matches.
Creighton's BIG EAST schedule is still being finalized and will be announced upon completion.
The regular-season starts on Friday, Jan. 22nd, when Creighton hosts Nebraska-Omaha at 6 p.m. Two days later the Bluejays will square off against Northern Iowa in a 2 p.m. contest. Plans call for both of those contests, as well as all other home contests, to be video webcast at GoCreighton.com/watch.
Creighton will meet South Dakota in consecutive matches one week later, with a match in Omaha on Jan. 29 before hitting the road for the first time on Jan. 31 in Vermillion. The Coyotes were 31-3 in 2019.
The Bluejays open February with back-to-back home matches vs. Marquette on Feb. 5 and Feb. 6, but with a twist. Neither match will count towards the BIG EAST standings, as the teams have set up this weekend to be non-conference matches. The teams are also scheduled to meet later this spring, with those specifics to come when the BIG EAST announces its conference schedule..
Following a long gap that's been set aside for BIG EAST matches to be completed, Creighton will also play a non-conference road match at Kansas State on March 20th.
The NCAA Tournament is expected to be completed between April 8-24, with the Final Four set for CHI Health Center Omaha in Omaha, Neb.
Creighton will have limited fan attendance offered at home matches this spring, with additional details provided at https://gocreighton.com/news/2021/1/14/creighton-to-allow-limited-fan-attendance-at-volleyball-matches.aspx.
Creighton was ranked 15th last Tuesday in the AVCA's preseason poll, while Marquette was 20th.
