Women's Basketball Heads To Holiday Break With Road Win at Arkansas, 81-72

Creighton scores season-high point total of 81
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Morgan Maly tied her career-high with 20 points to lead a Creighton bench that contributed 45 points as the Bluejay women's basketball team closed non-conference play with an 81-72 road win at Arkansas on Tuesday, Dec. 21.
Creighton improved to 8-3 with the victory, its seventh in the last eight games. Arkansas, which got votes in this week's Top 25 poll and entered the day 20th in the NET, had a four-game win streak snapped to drop to 10-3 overall.
Creighton dominated the first quarter, getting six points from Rachael Saunders to build a 16-8 lead and eventually settle for a 16-13 advantage after one quarter.
After seeing their lead trimmed to 28-26 with 6:02 left in the second, the Bluejays embarked on an 8-0 run as the margin stretched to double-figures for the first time. A triple from Maly saw the Bluejay lead balloon to 45-31, taking a 45-33 edge to the locker room.
Creighton made 10-of-18 three-pointers in the first half, got 25 bench points and outscored the Razorbacks 11-0 off turnovers in the first half. Lauren Jensen led CU with 12 points while Maly owned 10 points before the break.
The Bluejays opened the third quarter on a 10-2 run, highlighted by a three-point play from Saunders to push Creighton's lead to it largest maring 55-35. Eight different Bluejays contributed in the quarter as the Bluejays took a 66-53 lead to the final frame.
Maly's banked in a trey with 4:50 left to make it 79-61 to help Creighton clinch the win. Arkansas closed the game on a 9-0 run, yet never pulled within nine down the stretch.

Jensen scored 15, Saunders 12 and Carly Bachelor and Molly Mogensen each contributed 11 for a Bluejay line-up with five women in double-figures. The Bluejays made 14-of-30 three-pointers on the afternoon to tie a season-high for long-range makes. Senior Tatum Rembao dished out a season-high 11 assists, the second time in her career she has recorded double-digit assists.
Makayla Daniels led Arkansas with 34 points, sinking 5-of-6 three-point shots. The Razorbacks drained 11-of-21 three-pointers but lost the rebound battle 39-31 against CU.
Creighton will take a couple days off for the holidays before returning to BIG EAST action on Dec. 31 with a 1 p.m. Central game at Butler.
NOTES: Arkansas' only other losses had come to UConn (95-80) and UCF (52-51), and the Razorbacks defeated UConn 90-87 last season ...
