Zegarowski On 2021 Midseason Team for Naismith Men's Player of the Year

Creighton junior is 1 of 30 candidates on the list
ATLANTA, Ga. -- Creighton junior Marcus Zegarowski is one of 30 players named by the Atlanta Tipoff Club on its Midseason Team for Naismith Men's Player of the Year.
This year's list features representation from 25 different schools across 10 conferences. Baylor, Gonzaga, Iowa and Villanova are the four programs with multiple midseason candidates, with Gonzaga owning a nation-best three players. The list will be cut to 10 semifinalists on March 4 and again to four finalists on March 16.
A point guard from Hamilton, Mass., Zegarowski averages 14.4 points, 4.3 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game this season and has helped Creighton to a 15-5 overall record and No. 19 national ranking. He ranks among the top-12 in the BIG EAST in three-pointers per game (4th), assists per game (5th), assist/turnover ratio (7th), free-throw percentage (11th), minutes per game (11th), three-point percentage (11th), steals per game (12th) and points per game (12th).
The recognition is the latest of many honors received by Zegarowski as a Bluejay. He was named a Preseason First Team All-American by Blue Ribbon CBB Yearbook, Basketball Times and Stadium, and also voted by league coaches as the Preseason BIG EAST Player of the Year. Zegarowski is also one of 10 men on the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award Watch List and is also a candidate for the John R. Wooden Award.
The winner of the 2021 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy will be announced on April 4, one day before the NCAA national championship game. Dayton's Obi Toppin won the award in 2020. Creighton's lone recipient of the award was Doug McDermott following the 2013-14 season.
