Omaha, Neb. -- For the first time in school history, the top-ranked team in the country will come to D.J. Sokol Arena as Creighton battles No. 1 Connecticut on Thursday, Feb. 25 at 4:00 pm. The Bluejays previously faced the Huskies in 2014-15 in Storrs, Conn. when UConn was also ranked No. 1. The previous highest ranked team to come to Omaha was No. 3 Notre Dame during the 2011-12 season.

Scouting #1 Connecticut (18-1, 15-0 BIG EAST)
The Huskies come to Omaha as the top team in the country, led by one of the top players in Paige Bueckers (20.5 ppg).
Connecticut ranks ninth in the NCAA in scoring offense (82.9), second in scoring margin (+31.7) and fifth in scoring defense (51.3). The Huskies sit in the top-10 of six additional categories: Assist-to-Turnover Ratio (4), Assists (3), Assists Per Game (2), Field Goal Percentage (1), Field Goal Percentage Defense (5) and Won-Lost Percentage (3).
With all of those statistics it is easy to see why this team has extended Connecticut's run of consecutive wins in conference play (both in the AAC and this season in the BIG EAST) to 133 consecutive games. The last time Connecticut lost a conference game was March 4, 2013 as a member of the BIG EAST. In that game the Huskies fell to #2 Notre Dame, 61-59.
Scouting Creighton (7-9, 6-6 BIG EAST)
Saying the Bluejays have been inconsistent during the 2020-21 season, would certainly be an understatement.
During the recent four-game road trip, however, Creighton rattled off three wins. Included was a win over #19 DePaul on Feb. 20 (83-72). The Bluejays also bested Seton Hall 77-76 in overtime on Feb. 13 and beat Georgetown 42-41 on Feb. 15.
The trip, however, came to a grinding halt at Marquette on Feb. 22 with a 65-41 loss.
One large reason the Bluejays have struggled to be consistent this season is injuries. Starting point guard Tatum Rembao has missed seven games due to injuries. Creighton has also been without starter Rachel Saunders since the first meeting with Connecticut.
Creighton's Keys To the Game
Bench Shines Against Golden Eagles
The loss at Marquette on Feb. 22 may yield benefits in the future as freshman Jayme Horan showed some positive signs with 10 career-highs, including seven points and 11 minutes.
In total the Creighton bench delivered 22 of the Bluejays' 41 points against Marquette. Freshmen Horan, Emma Ronsiek (10)Â and Morgan Maly (8) accounted for 25 points.

Creighton's Keys To the Game
- Toughness: In the first meeting at Connecticut, the Bluejays would admit the first half was played scared. Part of Connecticut's mystique is that other teams play the dynasty, rather than simply playing the players across the court.
- Ball Security: Connecticut is far too talented to provide easy buckets on careless turnovers. Creighton allowed Marquette to score 23 points on 22 turnovers.
- Balanced Scoring: Against #19 DePaul five Bluejays finished in double-figures. To give Connecticut a competitive game, the Bluejays need multiple players to step up.
