Bluejay Women's Soccer Drops Friendly to Minnesota State Mankato, 3-1

Omaha, Neb. -- Playing its second match in as many days, the Creighton women's soccer team dropped a friendly (exhibition) match to Minnesota State-Mankato 3-1 on Friday, Feb. 26.
Using primarily reserves the Bluejays fell behind 1-0 in the first ten minutes on a goal from Jenny Vetter. The score remained 1-0 into halftime, but Creighton answered in the opening minutes courtesy of a goal from Keelie Fothergill.
The game-winning goal came in the 68th minute as some miscommunication by the Creighton defense led to an open net for Mankato's Brynn Desens. She punched in the opportunity from 12 yards away.
Mankato added to its advantage in the 89th minute with an unassisted goal from the left wing by Claire Cater from 20 yards out.
Creighton will return to its regular season on Thursday, March 4 at 12:00 pm in a road match at Marquette.
