Men's Soccer Collects 3-1 Win Against Kansas City During Monday Afternoon Match At Morrison

Three different Bluejays scored their first goals of the season on Monday
OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men's soccer team collected a 3-1 win against Kansas City on Monday afternoon at Morrison Stadium as three different Bluejays found the back of the net for the first time this season.
Callum Watson, Owen O'Malley each scored their first goals as Bluejays, while Dominic Briggs converted his first of the season and third of his career.
The Bluejays improved to 5-4-0 overall with the victory, and the Roos moved their season record to 3-7-1.
Watson opened the scoring during the 14th minute. The Hastings College transfer received a pass from the right wing by Keegan Boyd before sending the ball inside the left post from 17 yards out. Boyd and Diego Gutierrez each recorded assists on the play.
Creighton ended the first half with a 13-2 edge in shot attempts but found the back of the net only once.
The Bluejays continued to apply pressure to start the second half. Creighton forced a corner kick within the first 30 seconds after the break and found the back of the net just 50 seconds into the second 90-minute period.
Charles Auguste recovered an attempted clearance from the Kansas City goalkeeper following the corner-kick sequence and sent the ball ahead to Duncan McGuire. The Bluejay freshman proceeded to place a pass towards O'Malley at the far post before O'Malley calmly sent the ball into the back of the net for his first goal in a Bluejay uniform.
Briggs added to Creighton's goal total in the 54th minute. The sophomore received an outlet pass at midfield from McGuire before recovering the ball, flipping it over the goalkeeper and sending the ball past the end line.
The Roos closed the final margin to two goals with a tally in the 81st minute.
Creighton ended the match with a 19-8 advantage in shots and 9-2 edge in corner kicks. A total of 12 Bluejays attempted at least one shot, as Watson and Auguste each paced the squad with three attempts.
Creighton closes their regular-season home schedule on Friday against DePaul. Kickoff at Morrison Stadium between the Bluejays and Blue Demons is scheduled for 6 p.m.
