Carda and Ronsiek Earn Individual Honors as BIG EAST Awards Announced

New York, N.Y. -- Senior Temi Carda and freshman Emma Ronsiek each collected some individual recognition as the BIG EAST announced its end of season awards on Thursday, March 4.
The Bluejays team leader, Carda, earned All-BIG EAST Second Team, while Ronsiek was selected to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team.
Carda's final season as a Bluejay has been her best yet, averaging a team-high 13.9 ppg. With 236 combined points this season, Carda has moved into 24th place on the Creighton scoring list with 1,159 points. She leads the Bluejays in rebounds (75), assists (60), steals (19) and free-throw percentage (87.8%). Carda's best game of the season came against the toughest opponent, No. 1 Connecticut, scoring 24 points against the Huskies in what turned out to be her final regular season game as a Bluejay.
In her first season as a Bluejay, Ronsiek leads the team in field goal percentage (47.4%), hitting 73-of-154 shots. She is tied with Carda for the team lead with 75 rebounds and is second on the team with 11.2 ppg and 191 points. A two-time BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, Ronsiek's best games of the season came in the games against DePaul. In two games with the Blue Demons, Ronsiek finished with 27 and 28 points respectively.
Carda, Ronsiek and the rest of the Bluejays return to the court on Friday, March 5. The sixth-seeded Bluejays take on No. 11 Georgetown at 4:00 pm (CT) in tehe opening round of the BIG EAST Tournament.
