Women's Basketball Advances to Semifinals After Upset of Seton Hall at BIG EAST Tourney, 83-76

Temi Carda with her second straight career-high
Uncasville, Conn. -- Senior Temi Carda delivered a career-high 29 points and freshmen Emma Ronsiek (20) and Morgan Maly (18) combined for 38 points as sixth-seeded Creighton upset third-seeded Seton Hall 83-76 in the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Tournament.
The win lifted Creighton to 9-10 on the season, while Seton Hall fell to 14-7. Creighton advances to play the second-seed Marquette on Sunday, March 7 at 5:00 pm (CT). The game will be broadcast on FS2.
Down 48-38 with 6:48 left in the third, Creighton raced back into contention with a 13-1 run to seize its first lead of the contest at 51-49 (2:38). Carda got the comeback rolling with a three-ball from the right wing, then sophomore DeArica Pryor connected from the left corner to make it 48-44. Seton Hall got one of two from the line to break up Creighton's surge, but the Bluejays continued to bang away from beyond the arc. This time it was Maly brining the Bluejays within two at 49-47 with 5:20 left. Carda capped things off with a pair of free throws and a driving layup to put Creighton ahead.
The Bluejays took a 55-53 lead into the fourth quarter, only to fall behind 59-55 after going scoreless the first 2:48 of the final frame.
Three-pointers by Ronsiek and Maly and a lay-up from Carda got CU back on track, knotting the game at 61-61 (6:29). Down once more, 65-63 moments later, the Bluejays took the lead for good on Pryor's three-pointer with 4:01 remaining. Pryor's triple started a 7-0 Bluejay run, and Creighton would salt the game away with six free throws in the final 24 seconds.
Carda's 29 point effort led all scorers, while both Ronsiek and Maly finished with double-doubles. Ronsiek scored 20 points and collected 10 rebounds, while Maly had 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Seton Hall got 22 points in the loss from Desiree Elmore.
