Ryan Hawkins was named Most Outstanding Player of Division II Elite Eight
OMAHA, Neb. – Northwest Missouri State standout Ryan Hawkins will transfer to Creighton to play his final season of college basketball. The Atlantic, Iowa, native was named a First Team All-American last season for the Bearcats and named Most Outstanding Player of the Division II Elite Eight after leading Northwest to its third national title in the past five seasons.
The Bearcats went 159-8 in those five seasons with Hawkins on the roster, and 124-7 over the previous four years following Hawkins' redshirt season.

"His ability to score while understanding the importance of ball movement and unselfish play, is very impressive. The versatile nature of his game will allow him to play multiple positions in our system. We can't wait to get him on campus!"
The 6-foot-7 forward was named Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Defensive Player of the Year in both 2018-19 and 2019-20 and named First Team All-MIAA in 2019-20 and 2020-21. Hawkins averaged 22.6 points and 8.8 rebounds per game as a senior, closing his Bearcat career with 31 points and 18 rebounds in an 80-54 victory over West Texas A&M in the national championship game.
Hawkins had the first triple-double in MIAA Tournament history when he had 30 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists vs. Central Oklahoma, and played 40 minutes or more in 27 career contests. He's also been a prolific marksman, making 285-of-695 career three-point attempts (.410), and his 87 three-pointers as a senior ranked second nationally in Division II.
Hawkins had career totals of 2,098 points, 948 rebounds, 225 steals, 176 assists and 69 blocked shots for the Bearcats, starting the final 100 contests of his 131-game career. Hawkins had 30 career double-doubles for Northwest, where he is the program's all-time leading rebounder and second in points, steals and three-pointers made. He produced two games of 40 or more points, 14 games of 30+ points, 44 contests with 20+ points and 89 games in double-figures.
Creighton finished 22-9 overall and led the BIG EAST with 14 league victories last season, advancing to the program's first Sweet 16 since 1974. Hawkins joins a top-30 recruiting class of incoming freshmen John Christofilis, Mason Miller and Ryan Nembhard.
