Brown held the top position for singles and doubles the entire season
Brown held the Bluejays No. 1 position in singles and doubles action during the entirety of the 2021 season, while helping the team to a 6-7 record. Brown combined with Joe Hoff for seven wins at the top doubles spot and earned six wins during No. 1 singles play.Â
The senior duo of Brown and Hoff closed the season with three wins, including a 7-5 victory against Butler's No. 1 doubles pair at the BIG EAST Championship (April 23) and a 6-4 win in Omaha against the top doubles team from Marquette (April 3).
The Salina, Kansas native played at the No. 2 singles position during his freshman through junior seasons before moving up to the top slot this year. After opening the season with a straight-sets loss, Brown responded by winning his next three matches, including a three-set victory against DePaul's Christopher Casati.
"Stratton competed at the top singles and doubles spots for us this year and had some good wins in both," head coach Tom Lilly said. "He has proven he can compete with anyone in our conference at the top spot and is well deserving of this recognition.  We are excited to have him back next season as well."
Brown will use his fifth year of eligibility (as granted by the NCAA because of the COVID-19 pandemic)Â to play for the Bluejays during the 2021-22 season.Â
Creighton ended its 2021 spring season with a loss to Butler in the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Championship Presented by JEEP at the Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center in Cayce, South Carolina.
