BIG EAST-Big 12 Battle Schedule Announced; Men's Basketball To Host Iowa State

Creighton is 1-1 all-time in the event
OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men's basketball team will host Iowa State on Saturday, Dec. 4th as part of the BIG EAST-Big 12 Battle.
The dates and matchups, which will be played in December, were jointly determined by the two conferences. The home school has the right to determine the venue of its game. Broadcast arrangements for the games will be determined by the national television rights holder of the home team, which is FOX Sports for the BIG EAST and ESPN for the Big 12.Â
The four-year agreement between the two conferences will continue through the 2022-23 season with an equal number of games played in each conference's home market each year. Television designations and game times will be announced when available.Â
Creighton is 1-1 all-time in the BIG EAST-Big 12 Battle. The Bluejays defeated Oklahoma (83-73) in Omaha on Dec. 17, 2019 before falling to No. 5 Kansas (73-72) on Dec. 8, 2020 in Lawrence, Kan. The BIG EAST has won 11-of-16 games in the conference challenge series over the past two campaigns, though the leagues split six contests a year ago.
Creighton is 15-16 all-time against Iowa State, with the last meeting taking place in 2010 in Des Moines. Creighton's last win against the Cyclones came on Jan. 16, 1990, a 99-94 double-overtime victory in Ames. The Cyclones have not faced the Bluejays in Omaha since 1995, where CU leads the series 11-7.
Iowa State head coach T.J. Otzelberger returns to Ames after spending the last two seasons leading the UNLV program. Otzelberger is a former assistant under McDermott at Iowa State from 2006-10. The Cyclones went 2-22 last season and were winless in 18 Big 12 games.
Creighton finished 22-9 overall and led the BIG EAST with 14 league victories last season, advancing to the program's first Sweet 16 since 1974. Grad transfers KeyShawn Feazell (McNeese) and Ryan Hawkins (Northwest Missouri State) will join a top-10 recruiting class of incoming freshmen John Christofilis, Arthur Kaluma, Mason Miller and Ryan Nembhard as the Bluejays eye the 2021-22 campaign.
