Bluejay Rowing Opens 2022 Season With Successful Showing at Head of the Mississippi

Minneapolis, Minn. -- The Creighton Rowing team began the 2022 season with an impressive showing at the Head of the Mississippi Regatta on Saturday, October 1.
Competing in four races, the Bluejays posted victories in both novice events and were bested by only Minnesota in the two remaining varsity races.
The Bluejays' first competition of the morning came in the Varsity 4+ as Creighton placed fourth with a time of 19:01.057. The three boats that bested Creighton were each Golden Gopher entries.
Creighton's Novice 8+ entry posted a win in a four-team race with a time of 19:55.947, while the Bluejays' Novice 4+ squad repeated the feat with a three-team race win with a time of 21:24.963.
The final race of the day saw Creighton send three boats into the Varsity 8+. The Bluejays claimed third (16:20.894), fifth (17:04.238) and sixth (17:57.616).
Creighton returns to the water on Oct. 21 as the Bluejays earned the chance to compete in the Head of the Charles in Cambridge, Mass.
