Bluejay Rowing Delivers Program Best Second Place Finish at WCC Championships

Gretchen Strobbe and Dan Chips Claim Rower/Coach of the Year
Sacramento, Calif. -- The Creighton Rowing team delivered a program record second place finish at the WCC Championships on Saturday, May 14. Bluejay head coach Dan Chipps earned WCC Coach of the Year, while senior Gretchen Strobbe earned WCC Co-Rower of the Year.
Creighton opened racing with a third place finish in the 2v4 race, just 2.5 seconds behind San Diego. In the 1v4 the Bluejays posted a second place finish with a time of 7:51.0, over seven seconds ahead of San Diego. The deciding race came in the 1v8 as Creighton's squad grabbed a second place finish with a time of 6:53.8.
Gonzaga claimed each of the four races on Saturday, earning the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
