Sis Helps USA Volleyball To Sweep in U21 National Team Debut

Rising sophomore has three kills and three digs in lopsided win
BAJA CALIFORNIA SUR, Mexico - Rising Creighton sophomore Norah Sis had three kills and three digs to help the USA Volleyball Under-21 National Team to a lopsided 3-0 victory over Costa Rica on Tuesday night at the Pan American Cup. The American side never trailed in its 25-8, 25-4, 25-8 victory, which took just 59 minutes to complete.
The United States scored the first six points of the match and opened up a 19-0 lead to begin set two, with Sis on the floor to start both runs. A victory was never in question for the US, which hit .712 and held Costa Rica to -.075 hitting.
Sis finished her night with three kills on six attacks, adding three digs. She was also called on to serve once.
The Pan American Cup is a qualifier for the 2023 FIVB U21 World Championship. Ten teams are competing in three pools to begin the tournament. The United States will share Pool C with Argentina, Canada and Costa Rica. Pool A will include Dominican Republic, Cuba and Puerto Rico while Pool B holds Mexico, Chile and Honduras.
Sis led Creighton last fall with 3.75 kills per set and her 435 kills were 106 more than any other freshman on a top-25 team. The Papillion, Neb., product was named to four different All-Tournament Teams and brought home MVP honors at the BIG EAST Tournament. The outside hitter was named AVCA Third Team All-American, AVCA East Region Freshman of the Year, AVCA All-East Region, BIG EAST Freshman of the Year, picked up six BIG EAST Freshman of the Week accolades and also landed on the All-BIG EAST Team. She averaged 4.43 kills per set and 3.36 digs per set on .260 hitting in eight contests against top-50 opponents. She was named VolleyballMag.com's National Freshman of the Year after helping Creighton to a 31-4 overall record and BIG EAST Tournament and regular-season titles.
Sis and USA Volleyball return to the court on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Central against Canada as play in Pool C continues. The Canadians were swept by Argentina (25-17, 25-8, 25-22) earlier on Tuesday. Wednesday's contest is expected to be video webcast at https://www.facebook.com/babisuritv.
