CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- Creighton University had five women who are among the 1,485 collegiate golfers recognized by the Women's Golf Coaches Association as All-American Scholars. The Bluejay honorees include freshmen Eleanor Hudepohl and Katherine Lemke, sophomore Katie Berrian, junior Gabby Tremblay and senior Katie Allen.
Creighton's five honorees were the second-most in the BIG EAST, one shy of St. John's league-leading six.
Allen was recognized for the fourth consecutive year and it was the third such honor for Tremblay. Berrian made the list for a second season in a row, while both Lemke and Hudepohl made their debuts on the list. All five women owned a spot on the Creighton Dean's List last fall and four of the five repeated the honor in the spring. Creighton now owns 36 WGCA All-American Scholars since 2014.
A native of Phoenix, Ariz., Allen owned a scoring average of 77.50, giving her three of the top six single-season scoring averages by a Bluejay in the past 20 years. Allen had four top-10 finishes in 2021-22, highlighted by a tie for fourth place at the Creighton Classic.
Tremblay averaged 79.27 strokes per round and has owned the team's top scoring average in two of her first three seasons with the program. Her best finish last season was a tie for seventh place at the Creighton Classic. Eighteen of her 30 rounds last season were in the 70s.
Berrian is a product of Castle Rock, Colo.. She competed in all 10 tournaments for Creighton in 2021-22 and ranked fourth on the team with an 78.55 stroke average, which was nearly four shots better than her freshman campaign.
Lemke was named First Team All-BIG EAST and BIG EAST Freshman of the Year after earning medalist honors at the BIG EAST Championship. The Geneva, Ill., native became the program's first qualifier for the NCAA Regional. Lemke's 76.36 scoring average was the best by a Bluejay since at least 2003-04 and helped her to four top-five finishes in 11Â events. Prior to earning medalist honors at the BIG EAST Championship, she had won the Creighton Classic on Oct. 12 and finished as the runner-up on April 12th at Stampede at the Creek.
Hudepohl averaged 77.07 strokes per round during her freshman campaign. The Cincinnati product had three top-three finishes during her rookie season with the Bluejays.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50, and the student-athlete must have played in 50% of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated.
