CU hosts Bluejay Invitational this weekend
OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton Volleyball team will be one of three ranked teams at D.J. Sokol Arena when it hosts the Bluejay Invitational Presented by Hilton Omaha this weekend. The Bluejays are ranked 17th in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25 Coaches Poll, up one spot from its preseason No. 18 ranking.
The Bluejay Invitational Presented by Hilton Omaha features three matches on Friday and three matches on Saturday, with CU meeting No. 25 USC on Friday at 7:30 p.m. before Saturday contests against No. 16 Kentucky (10:30 a.m.) and Northern Iowa (7:30 p.m.). All six contests will take place at D.J. Sokol Arena in Omaha, Neb.
Creighton (3-0) opened its season by claiming the Rumble in the Rockies title last weekend in Laramie, Wyo., after wins over Iowa State (3-0), Wichita State (3-1) and tournament host Wyoming (3-0).
The Bluejays have now been ranked each of the last 16 polls and 93 times in program history. That figure ranks 47th-most in history. CU's all-time best ranking in program history is No. 7, which came in the poll released on Aug. 28, 2017. Creighton is 148-35 all-time when playing as a ranked team in the AVCA poll, including a 66-10 record at home. This is the 11th straight season that Creighton has spent at least one week in the top-25, another program record.

Nebraska, whom Creighton will host at CHI Health Center Omaha on Sept. 7, fell from the top spot despite posting three sweeps last weekend. The Cornhuskers were supplanted by preseason No. 2 Texas, which went on the road and dropped just one set while posting a pair of road wins against then-No. 7 Ohio State. CU's BIG EAST rival, Marquette, moved into the top-25Â at No. 24 after opening the season with a 3-2 win at previous No. 11 Kentucky.AVCA Division I Coaches Poll:
