Bluejay Men's Soccer Delivers Impressive 6-1 Win Over Omaha

Omaha, Neb. -- For the fifth and sixth time in the 2022 season the Creighton Men's Soccer team posted three goals in a half as the Bluejays bested Omaha 6-1 in the Dodge Street Derby on Wednesday, September 14.
The Bluejays scored three times in each other to climb to 3-1-2 on the season, while Omaha fell to 3-2-1
Creighton's first goal came with 31:00 showing on the clock, but once the scoring began the Bluejays went on to score three goals over the next 12 minutes.
Senior Charles Auguste scored the opening goal grabbing a deflected clear near the top of the box, then blasting a shot into the back of the net for his first goal of the season. Sophomore Giorgio Probo earned the assist on the play, sending a corner into the box that bounced off an Omaha defender.
Just two minutes later the Bluejays got a goal from sophomore Jackson Castro. The Texas native fielded a pass from senior Callum Watson 15 yards outside the box. Castro beat two UNO defenders and blasted in his fourth goal of the season.
Creighton's third goal of the match saw sophomore Owen O'Malley take a long pass from sophomore Miguel Ventura. The pass from Ventura traveled more than 35 yards, bouncing off a Maverick defender's head to the feet of O'Malley.
The second half saw the Bluejays score three more, getting goals from Castro, junior Duncan McGuire and freshman Ryan Brakke.
Castro's second goal of the match came along the left side of the pitch as O'Malley found him striding toward the box (52:58).
McGuire's tally came in the 62nd minute (61:37) as Probo collected his second assist by lofting a ball to McGuire's head for his sixth goal of the year.
The Bluejays' final tally came from freshman Ryan Brakke in the 80th minute (79:18). Senior Alejandro Maillet collected an assist on the play, finding Brakke with a crossing pass just outside the penalty box.
Omaha's goal came on a penalty kick in the 88th minute (87:49), Creighton closed the match with a 21-8 edge on shots.
Creighton opens BIG EAST play on Saturday, September 17 as the Bluejays host Connecticut at 6:30 p.m. in Morrison Stadium.
