10/30/2023 1:47:00 PM | Volleyball
Creighton (19-4, 10-2 BIG EAST) has swept each of its last seven matches, hitting .357 in that span and outscoring foes 528-344. Just two of CU's last seven opponents have scored more than 21 points in a set.
The Bluejays are one of 15 schools (along with Baylor, BYU, Florida, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, Nebraska, Oregon, Penn State, Pitt, Purdue, Stanford, Texas and Wisconsin) to have been ranked each of the last 41 polls. Creighton has been ranked in all but six of the past 110 weeks the AVCA has put out a Top 25 poll and 118 times in program history, which is tied for 38th-most among all programs all-time with Northern Iowa. Creighton is 191-44 all-time when playing as a ranked team in the AVCA poll.
CU's all-time best ranking in program history is No. 7, which came in the poll released on Aug. 28, 2017, and its best ranking this fall has been No. 11 on Sept. 18th. This is the 12th straight season that Creighton has spent at least one week in the top-25, extending another program record.
Marquette rejoined the rankings for the first time since Sept. 11th, coming in at No. 25 this week. Creighton, which hosts the Golden Eagles on Sunday, is 8-3 all-time against ranked Marquette teams, easily its most Top 25 wins over any opponent in program history. The Bluejays 20-24 all-time in match-ups involving a pair of Top 25 teams.
Unbeaten Nebraska remained in the top spot and are followed in the top-five by Wisconsin, Louisville, Texas and Stanford.
Creighton returns to action on Friday at 11:30 a.m. when it hosts DePaul.
