Bluejays Settle For 2-2 Draw at Butler

Indianapolis, Ind. -- Trailing 1-0 at the half, Creighton surged ahead with a pair of goals in just over a three minute span. The final three minutes, however, saw Butler even the score at 2-2 as the two squads battled to a draw on Saturday, October 7.
Following Saturday's result the Bluejays are 3-4-5 on the season and 2-1-1 in BIG EAST action, while Butler fell to 2-6-2 on the season and 1-2-1 in conference contests.
Butler got on the board first as Henri Kumwenda redirected a pass from Tommy Visser to push across his second goal to the upper left corner.
Down 1-0 early in the second half, Creighton's comeback began as Jackson Castro entered a corner kick from the left side. Castro's shot was blocked by Bulter goalkeeper Caleb Norris directly to Bluejay Miguel Ventura. The junior blasted in his second goal of the season, with Castro picking up the assist with 53:27 showing on the clock.
Just over three minutes later (56:35) freshman Miguel Arilla delivered his third goal of the year after seniors Giorgio Probo and Dominic Briggs set the play in motion. Probo sent the ball to the right corner, then Briggs centered the ball for Arilla.
Butler, however, found the equalizer with 87:30 on the clock, Jack Streberger finished the play after Donovan Boone and Ryan Hannosh sent the ball to the left corner.
Creighton closed the match with a 16-10 edge, while Butler held the edge on corners created 8-5.
The Bluejay have a few days off as Creighton has its BIG EAST bye before facing Seton Hall on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 2:00 pm (CT).
