Bluejays Slide to #24 in Coaches Poll
Omaha, Neb. -- Creighton Women's Basketball remained No. 22 in the Associated Press (AP) Preseason Top-25 when the second poll was released on Monday, November 13th. The Bluejays opened the season with decisive victories over North Dakota State (75-52) and South Dakota (81-55). After opening the season with 123 votes to slot into #22, Creighton earned 131 votes in the second poll.
In the USA Today/Coaches Poll, released on Tuesday, November 14, Creighton fell to #24 after sitting tied for #23 in the preseason poll. In the preseason poll Creighton had 95 points, yet received 124 points in the one released on Nov. 14.
Entering the 2022-23 season Creighton had appeared in either the AP or USA Today/Coaches Poll nine times. Last season the Bluejays were ranked in each poll for the first nine weeks, climbing as high as No. 13 (AP on Nov. 28).
The Bluejays return 10 members of its roster from the 2022-23 NCAA Tournament team, including its top four scorers. Lauren Jensen and Morgan Maly led the Bluejays last season with 500 and 454 points respectively. Both garnered All-BIG EAST First Team honors, while Emma Ronsiek delivered 410 points and collected All-BIG EAST Honorable Mention.
Creighton hosts Green Bay this Thursday at home in a 6:00 p.m. tip, then faces Nebraska on Sunday, Nov. 19.
